According to the announcement, the mission of the ship will last until 27th October 2020. Oruç Reis seismic research vessel is capable of conducting all kinds of geological, geophysical, hydrographic, and oceanographic surveys, especially the continental shelf and natural resource exploration. The ship is one of the rare research ships in the world, fully equipped and multi-purpose and geophysical research can be carried out in 2 and 3-dimensional seismic, gravity, and magnetic fields. The ship can perform 3-dimensional seismic operations up to a depth of 8,000 meters, and 2-dimensional seismic operations up to a depth of 15,000 meters.
