28 January, 2016Turkish Cypriot Co-Chairman of the Technical Committee on Crime and Criminal Matters Celal Önen stated that as the result of the bi-communal work of the Banking Unions in Cyprus which was carried out against laundering of illicit money, the international “suspect countries” image on Cyprus has been removed.
Reminding that the bi-communal Technical Committee on Crime and Criminal Matters was established by the leaders in April 2008 until the settlement of the Cyprus problem, Önen indicated that objectives or mandates of the technical committees are to ensure and to develop trust on prevention of crime between the citizens of the two communities and to cooperate in solving the problems which they face in their daily lives.
