The Speaker of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus Assembly, Ziya Öztürkler met with Speaker of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Sahiba Gafarova within the framework of his official contacts in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan.
According to a statement issued by the TRNC Assembly, Speaker Öztürkler, who is in Baku to attend the 20th Session of the Parliamentary Union of the The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation Member States, was accompanied by Hasan Küçük, National Unity Party MP and member of the Assembly’s Presidency Council as well as Şifa Çolakoğlu, Republican Turkish Party MP along with the TRNC Representative to Baku, Ambassador Ufuk Turganer.
Speaker Öztürkler expressed his appreciation to the Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan for the hospitality extended during the 3rd Meeting of the Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Groups of Azerbaijan, Türkiye and the TRNC recently held in Baku.
He also underlined the importance of the TRNC attaches to expanding interparliamentary cooperation to include other brotherly Turkic states.
For her part, Speaker Gafarova said she was plased to welcome the delegation from the brotherly TRNC and expressed confidence that this visit would further strengthen the ties of friendship and brotherhood between Azerbaijan and the TRNC.
