According to some sources close to the negotiations in Mont Pelerin, Switzerland, there has been some progress on the issue of property.
Although some progress has been made, a number of areas of disagreement remain.
President Mustafa Akıncı and Greek Cypriot Leader Nikos Anastasiades will try to reach a settlement on territorial arrangements during the meetings which are to be held today and tomorrow.
Should a consensus be reached on the criteria which are being discussed, the date of five-party meeting – where the Security and Guarantees chapter will be discussed with the participation of the guarantor countries, the UK, Turkey and Greece – will be determined on Friday.
According to some sources, it would be important to agree on the criteria of the property issue, which should then be laid out on a map. Should the date of the five-party meeting not be determined, the three stage agreement – part of the process for the talks in Switzerland – will be collapsed.
