President Erhürman meets with Daniel Mangis
8 December, 2025President Tufan Erhürman stated that the meeting held on Friday with María Angela Holguín Cuellar, the Personal Envoy of United Nations Secretary-General on Cyprus, was very productive and constructive in terms of mutual understanding.
Erhürman made the remarks to the press following his meeting with Holguín, who was on the island to meet with leaders and to attend the tripartite meeting scheduled for Thursday, 11 December.
Stressing that that three main topics were discussed during the meeting, President Erhürman noted that he had the opportunity to explain in detail both the substance of the four-point methodology proposal and the reasoning behind it. He then stated that he briefed Holguin on the ten-point package presented during his meeting with Christodoulides and outlined the reasons why such a package was deemed necessary.
Pointing out that the third topic they discussed was the confidence building measures determined during the meeting held in Geneva between 5th President Ersin Tatar and Greek Cypriot Administration Leader Nikos Christodoulides, President Erhürman stated that they reviewed the measures, essentially the crossing points and discussed in detail the issue of solar panels to be built with European Union support in the buffer zone.
Concluding his remarks, President Erhürman expressed hope that tangible progress could be achieved on all three topics.
