Ertuğruloğlu: “It is not possible to forget Greek Cypriot barbarism and painful years our people suffered”

22 December, 2023TRNC President Ersin Tatar issued a message in honour of 21-25 December National Struggle and Martyrs’ Week.
In his message, President Tatar stated that the Turkish Cypriot people have gained their independence, sovereignty and established their state with an epic struggle for existence and freedom as well as with the support of the Republic of Türkiye in order to live freely in their homeland, to govern themselves and to determine their own future.
He said that we owe a debt of gratitude to our martyrs and veterans and to future generations not to go back from this point, which was gifted to us by the heroic mujahideen who showed great resistance under the leadership of the Turkish Cypriot Resistance Organization (TMT) against the Greek Cypriot attacks launched 60 years ago in order to destroy the Turkish Cypriot people and transform Cyprus into a Hellenic island, and prevented the island from being connected to Greece while protecting the Turkish Cypriot presence in Cyprus.
The President said “As we enter the 21-25 December Struggle and Martyrs Week, I once again remember all our martyrs with mercy and gratitude and greet our veterans with gratitude.”
