23 August, 2016President Mustafa Akıncı held a two-hour meeting with political party leaders and representatives ahead of the second round of intensified negotiations.
The meeting was held at the Presidential Palace yesterday at 15:15.
National Unity Party (UBP) Leader and Prime Minister Hüseyin Özgürgün, Democrat Party (DP) Leader Serdar Denktaş, Republican Turkish Party (CTP) Leader Mehmet Ali Talat and Communal Democracy Party (TDP) Leader Cemal Özyiğit all attended the meeting.
UBP Secretary-General Dursun Oğuz, DP Lefkoşa Deputy Mustafa Arabacıoğlu, CTP Secretary-General Tufan Erhurman and TDP Girne Deputy Zeki Çeler accompanied their party leaders to the meeting.
The Undersecretary to the President Gürdal Hüdaoğlu, Negotiator Özdil Nami, Spokesperson Barış Burcu, Special Advisor on Diplomatic and Political Affairs Erhan Erçin and the Coordinator of Technical Committees Meltem Onurkan Samani were also present at the meeting.
In a press conference following the meeting, the party leaders stated that President Akıncı discussed his Ankara visit on 16 August and exchanged views with them on the intensified negotiation process.
