“Mağusa Initiative” activist Mertkan Hamit stated that they will make a protest on Saturday between 10:00-11:00 at Derinya Crossing point to demand opening of Derinya gate. Hamit made a call to the citizens of Mağusa to participate in the protest.

In his written statement, Hamit said that opening of Derinya gate will shorten the distances, intensify the inter-communal relations and make the tradesmen to market their goods and services in an easier way. Furthermore, Hamit underlined that recently, United Nations Human Rights Committee supported opening of crossing points in Cyprus, stressing that increasing the number of crossing points will make positive contribution to inter-communal dialogue and confidence.
