21 March, 2025Former British Foreign Secretary, Jack Straw stated that the solution to the long standing Cyprus issue, is very simple and underlined that the only way to progress realistically is a two-state solution, which is also supported by Türkiye and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).
Remarking the Greek Cypriots remain doggedly committed to the federal proposal which was the basis for the failed negotiations, Straw noted: “The inaction on the Cyprus issue which has frozen this struggle in time simply cannot be allowed to endure. Fresh thinking is required to excise this tumour from Europe.”
In his article in “The Independent”, Straw evaluated the summit in Geneva and the Cyprus negotiation process.
