President Tatar to attend the 16th Summit of Economic Cooperation Organization in Tashkent

9 November, 2023President Ersin Tatar, who has gone to Tashkent, the capital city of Uzbekistan, in order to attend the 16th Summit of the Economic Cooperation Organisation, of which the TRNC is an observer member, met with ECO Secretary General Khusrav Noziri.
Stating that the countries that make up the ECO have a joint population of over 500 million and have a strong economic value, Tatar emphasised the importance they attach to relations with the ECO.
Noting that the Turkish Cypriot people were subjected to unjust embargoes and that 60-year-long negotiations reached an impasse, the President pointed to the two-state solution policy pursued with the support of Türkiye.
For his part, ECO Secretary General Noziri stated that they are closely aware of the problems and demands of the Turkish Cypriot people and that they support the Turkish Cypriot people to improve their international contacts.
