Prime Minister Ersin Tatar stated that as long as the Turkish Republic continues its support and cooperation, the TRNC will continue to strengthen and the welfare of the Turkish Cypriot people will also increase.

In his speech at the joint press meeting with the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Tatar pointed out the importance of Turkey’s steps to protect the rights and interests of the Turkish Cypriot people in the Eastern Mediterranean. Stressing that we should be very careful on the issue of a new negotiation process, Tatar said that the ground for a federal settlement was lost in Crans Montana, a new negotiation process should not start from the stage at which it was left and should be result oriented.

Furthermore, adding that the Turkish Cypriot people have always supported a settlement in Cyprus but Turkey’s guarantee will always be a priority for the Turkish Cypriot side, Tatar stressed that Turkey’s guarantee must continue in the event of a possible agreement in Cyprus.
