9 June, 2017Turkish Energy and Natural Resources Minister Berat Albayrak has stated that the first drilling well will be dug in the Mediterranean before the end of this year.
Albayrak, who visited the Barbaros Hayrettin Paşa seismic research vessel with Economy and Energy Minister Sunat Atun, noted that Turkey will be active in conducting seismic exploration and drilling activities, not only in the waters of Turkey but also in the waters of North Cyprus.
Albayrak, who made statements concerning the activities of the vessel, said that the first exploratory drilling well will be dug in the Mediterranean before the end of this year.
He added that Turkey must now carry out a more efficient process in the Mediterranean due to the region’s potential, which has brought new focus to global oil and gas sector, particularly over the last 15-20 years.
