TRNC Delegation in Baku

 Ziya Öztürkler, Speaker of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) Assembly, and his accompanying delegation paid an official visit in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan.

 Following the visit, Öztürkler briefed the press on his meetings in Baku.

Öztürkler emphasized that the TRNC’s position within the Turkic world had been strengthened, particularly noting that its observer status in the Organisation of Turkic States represents a significant turning point.

He stated that the TRNC’s observer membership had increased its visibility on the international arena and reinforced efforts to lift the isolation imposed on the Turkish Cypriot people.

Noting that inter-parliamentary contacts have now moved to a more formal level, Öztürkler said that talks previously conducted informally are now being held openly under the TRNC flag and in its name.

He added that the meetings held in Azerbaijan were highly significant in this context, stating that the ability of the TRNC delegation to establish direct contact with the Milli Majlis of the Republic of  Azerbaijan stands as one of the most concrete indicators of the new era.
