26 February, 2018President Mustafa Akıncı has stated that the Turkish Cypriot side will continue to have a constructive attitude on building a future based on equality, where all sides will benefit.
Akıncı stressed that the Greek Cypriot side was causing tension in the region by continuing unilateral hydrocarbon activities in the Eastern Mediterranean, and called for a “new understanding” on the Greek Cypriot side with regards to sharing power, authority and wealth with the Turkish Cypriots.
Meeting with the officials of the Cyprus Turkish Businessmen Association, İstanbul Industrialists and Businessmen’s Association and Turkey-China Group, Akıncı stressed that the Cyprus negotiations have failed largely due to the uncompromising attitude of the Greek Cypriot side, in contrast to the efforts made by the Turkish Cypriot side in pushing the process towards the five-party summit stage last year.
