23 March, 2026The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) has issued a NOTAM reaffirming that it is the sole competent authority responsible for the provision of air traffic and aeronautical information services within its airspace.
In the notice, all aircraft operating in the area are urged to exercise the highest level of caution regarding flight safety, to closely monitor published aeronautical information, and to act in coordination with the relevant air traffic control units.
The Ministry of Public Works and Transport issued a written statement regarding the matter.
According to the statement, the Greek Cypriot Administration (GCA) had previously issued a NOTAM advising aircraft operating from the ground up to 5,486 meters, and indicating the possibility of military activities in the designated area.
The statement further underlined that the NOTAM issued by the GCA covers the north-eastern region of Cyprus and overlaps with the Ercan Advisory Airspace. It emphasized that with these overlapping zones, the GCA’s NOTAM has been rendered null and void by the corresponding notice issued by the TRNC.
