28 May, 2025An economic conference titled “Developments in the Turkish and Global Economy and Future Vision” was held under the auspices of the TRNC Presidency in collaboration with the Turkish Cypriot Chamber of Commerce and the Banks Association of Northern Cyprus yesterday.
High-level officials and sector leaders attended the event to address economic challenges, opportunities and strategies for sustainable growth.
Speaking at the event, President Ersin Tatar highlighted the importance of drawing on Türkiye’s experience to overcome challenges in the TRNC economy. He called for strengthening key sectors such as tourism, light industry, and digital transformation, with the aim of positioning the TRNC as a regional tech hub.
The President also criticized recent property-related arrests by the Greek Cypriot administration.
Turkish Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek reaffirmed Türkiye’s unwavering support for the TRNC and stressed the importance of regional integration, productive sectors and future-oriented investments, and adapting to digital transformation.
Chamber of Commerce President Turgay Deniz stressed the urgency of establishing a resilient economic structure to withstand global uncertainties, meanwhile Chair of the Banks Association of Northern Cyprus Olgun Onal praised the achievements of the TRNC’s real sector and banking industry under challenging conditions.
The conference concluded with a unified call for reform, investment, and stronger cooperation between Türkiye and the TRNC to ensure long-term economic prosperity.
