30 March, 2017The Republic of Turkey has donated 100,000 USD to the Committee on Missing Persons in Cyprus (CMP) for the exhumation, identification and return of remains of missing persons in Cyprus.
The donation took place at the Turkish Embassy in Lefkoşa where the Turkish Ambassador to Lefkoşa, Derya Kanbay, gave a $100,000 check to Gülden Plümer Küçük, the Turkish Cypriot member of the Committee on Missing Persons. Küçük carries out the project for the exhumation, identification and return of remains of missing persons as a result of the tragic events in 1963-1964 and 1974.
Derya Kanbay stated that the cheque represented the 2017 annual contribution of the Republic of Turkey to the Committee on Missing Persons.
In her speech, Küçük said that Turkey is the fourth greatest donor of the Committee and has contributed 100,000 dollars every year since the project started.
