Turkish National Defence Ministry: “A step that could adversely affect the delicate balances and the climate of trust in Cyprus”

Following the weekly press briefing held by the Turkish Ministry of National Defence (MSB), the Ministry issued a statement in response to questions from members of the press.

Responding to questions regarding the United States’ decision on the arms embargo, it was noted that the US decision to extend the lifting of the arms embargo on the Greek Cypriot administration for one more year until September 30, 2027 is a step that could adversely affect the delicate balances and the climate of trust in Cyprus.”

The Ministry stated that third parties are expected to refrain from activities that would harm delicate balances on the island and to abandon practices that disregard the Turkish Cypriot people, expressing that: “as a guarantor state Türkiye will continue to take the necessary measures to ensure the safety, peace, and prosperity of the Turkish Cypriots, in coordination with the authorities of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) as it has done in the past”
