Vice President of the Republic of Türkiye Cevdet Yılmaz stated that during his meeting with Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed, conveyed Türkiye’s expectations regarding the protection of the rights of Turkish Cypriots.
Yılmaz met with OIC Secretary-General on the sidelines of the 42nd Ministerial Session of the Standing Committee for Economic and Commercial Cooperation of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (COMCEC) held in Istanbul.
In a post regarding the meeting, Yılmaz stated:
“During our meeting, we discussed ways to enhance the institutional effectiveness of the OIC, developing economic and commercial cooperation under the umbrella of COMCEC and strengthening solidarity on the common issues of the Islamic world. Furthermore, we conveyed our expectations regarding support for our country’s candidacy for the Director-General of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), as well as the protection of the rights of the Turkish Cypriots and the Muslim Turkish Minority of Western Thrace”.
