12 September, 2023In an incident that occurred on 11/09/2023, during a grass-clearing operation in TRNC territory adjacent to the Buffer Zone at Burhan Tan Street, an UNFICYP soldier physically attacked a Turkish Cypriot Security Forces soldier.
Commenting on the incident, in a statement to the Anadolu Agency, Minister of Foreign Affairs Tahsin Ertuğruloğlu said that UNFICYP could not tolerate what had happened on the Pile-Yiğitler Road and therefore adopted an aggressive attitude.
Noting that what the UNFICYP soldier has done is not something that can be accepted, Ertuğruloğlu said, “We will express our reaction when necessary. Rest assured this incident will be duly followed up.”
