6 October, 2015It was stated that automation works in Güzelyalı and Geçitköy have started within the framework of the “Project of the Century”. Water from Turkey is being pumped to Geçitköy Dam with some intervals. In the final technical stage of the project water will be transferred into the treatment facility and the performance tests will start.
According to the information gained from the TRNC Project Director of the Turkish Republic General Directorate of State Hydraulic Works, Birol Çınar, water will start to be supplied to the TRNC continuously as of 29 October 2015.
By this project, which has cost more than 1 billion 200 thousand Turkish Lira, water will be supplied from Turkey and distributed to Lefkoşa, Girne coast line, Mağusa-İskele and Dipkarpaz through a 475 km water pipeline.
