Erdoğan: “Türkiye will never abandon Turkish Cypriot people”

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan addressed the 41st Session of the Standing Committee for Economic and Commercial Cooperation of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (COMCEC), held in Ankara on Monday.

Erdoğan reiterated that as the motherland and guarantor power, Türkiye will never leave the Turkish Cypriot people alone, and would continue to stand by them in their just cause.

He underlined that the Turkish Cypriot people are an inseparable part of the Islamic world who had suffered from unjust and inhumane isolation for decades.

The President praised the Turkish Cypriots for resisting pressure and defending their sovereign equality, emphasizing that their determination to live “with dignity in their own homeland” would never be compromised.

Erdoğan also called on the İslamic world to extend greater support to the Turkish Cypriots’ struggle for a two-state solution based on equality, freedom and justice.
