Erhürman and Christodoulides to hold a tête-à-tête meeting
3 February, 2026President Tufan Erhürman held a press conference titled “100 Days at the Presidency”, during which he stated that his five-year term would serve as a period of renewal for the Turkish Cypriot people.
Emphasizing that regional stability cannot be achieved without stability in Cyprus, President Erhürman underscored the need to create a constructive climate conducive to a comprehensive settlement of the Cyprus issue. He noted that since the Crans-Montana talks, no meaningful negotiation process has taken place, and that no progress has been achieved even on confidence-building measures.
The President also emphasized the importance of maintaining uninterrupted consultation and diplomatic engagement with Türkiye. Reaffirming his commitment to political equality, he described it as an indispensable principle for safeguarding the future of the Turkish Cypriot people.
He further stated that 18 working units have been established within the Presidency and are currently operational. Addressing education-related matters, President Erhürman stressed that efforts would continue regarding the Turkish school in Limassol, and that necessary steps would be taken to protect the rights of students at the school in Karpaz.
