Leaders to meet again today
2 September, 2016Protests held against a Greek Cypriot trader for importing potatoes from the TRNC
2 September, 2016The Agriculture and Natural Resources Minister Nazım Çavuşoğlu has stated that it is unacceptable that a group of Greek Cypriots protested against a Greek Cypriot trader who legally imports potatoes from the TRNC under the Green Line Regulations.
In his written statement, Minister Çavuşoğlu stated that he was saddened and worried by the situation. Trade takes place between the two sides as part of the Green Line Regulations, Minister Çavuşoğlu noted, but some fanatics are trying to prevent it.
“How can a way of thinking – which cannot even accept importing Turkish Cypriot potatoes – become united with the Turkish Cypriot people?”
Minister Çavuşoğlu also called upon the Greek Cypriot Minister of Agriculture Nikos Kuyalis to implement new initiatives that will encourage peaceful cooperation and trading for future generations.
