17 October, 2018President Mustafa Akıncı stated that he will be glad to listen if Anastasiades has any new opinions at the meeting which he hopes may be held soon but added that if the solution is a federal partnership state, the active participation of the parties will be unavoidable in the jointly used authorities.
In his statement yesterday, Akıncı shared his views concerning the report on Cyprus which has been delivered to the Security Council by the UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.
Stating that he discussed the report in detail with the negotiating team, Akıncı said: “The Secretary-General said in his report that the status quo in Cyprus is not sustainable and that a permanent solution is needed. In addition, it is important to underline that he said the negotiations, which cannot reach any conclusion and never come to an end, failed and that a solution can only be achieved with a result-oriented approach and in a visible future.”
Indicating that re-assignment of Lute by the Secretary-General also took place as an important issue in the report, Akıncı said that his views on the modalities are also widely reflected in the report.
