A provocative incident took place on the anniversary of the establishment of the EOKA terror organization, as Greek Cypriot groups targeted civilians at Yiğitler Bastion on the TRNC side of the border.
According to official sources, groups gathered in the South on April 1 to mark the anniversary, approached the border line and hurled stones, sticks and improvised explosive devices at TRNC civilians in a park in the Yiğitler Bastion area.
The attackers, including masked individuals fled the scene by moving away from the border line after Turkish troops stationed in the area arrived at the location and TRNC police implemented security measures.
Following the incident, the TRNC Presidency initiated initiatives with the United Nations and the Greek Cypriot administration.
