26 May, 2016Presidential Spokesperson Barış Burcu stressed that it is necessary to evaluate the time well to reach a solution in 2016, adding that President Akıncı is ready to double his efforts to reach a solution in the island as soon as possible. Burcu also said that Akıncı invites the Greek Cypriot Leadership to act with the same consciousness, not with impulsive behaviour.
In his written statement, Burcu stated “Our President Akıncı invites the Greek Cypriot Leadership to act with same consciousness, not with impulsive behaviour, to reach a federal solution based on bi-zonality, bi-communality and political equality”.
Furthermore, Burcu stressed that no one has a right to place obstacles for the President to attend any dinner, adding that there are seven months to reach a result, the negotiations have been continuing for a year that is why, each day and each hour of 2016 is very important.
