15 March, 2017Turkish Foreign Minister, Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu has stated that he has seen the true intentions of the Greek Cypriot side and Greece regarding the Cyprus issue.
In his speech at Trakya Balkan STK Platform in Edirne, Çavuşoğlu touched upon the Cyprus
issue. “As the negotiations continue, the Greek Cypriot Parliament has approved the commemoration of Enosis which means the annexation of Cyprus to Greece. Apparently, they would like a solution and the parameters and criteria for any settlement are clear … Bi-zonality, political equality and two constituent states…On the other hand, they are afraid that Turkey and the TRNC will find other alternatives. As far as Turkey is concerned, we have supported the process for a settlement thus far but if you do not wish to come to a settlement, we can find other alternatives,” said Minister Çavuşoğlu.
