Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan emphasized the great importance they place on ensuring the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) is represented at the highest level it deserves within the Organisation of Turkic States.
Speaking to journalists upon his return from Azerbaijan, where he attended the 12th Summit of the OTS, President Erdoğan noted, “We are witnessing that the TRNC, since obtaining observer country status in 2022, has increasingly expanded its direct contacts with the member states of the organisation. As we did at our Budapest Summit in May, we reiterated in the Gabala Summit declaration the solidarity of the Turkic world to secure the inherent rights of the Turkish Cypriots. We have also enacted the necessary regulation to implement the decision regarding the observer membership of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus at the Turkic Academy.”
