Private Allahverdi Kılıç who was martyred in an attack by Greek Cypriot soldiers on 8 September, 1996 while on duty was commemorated yesterday on the 28th anniversary of his death.

The commemoration was attended by President Ersin Tatar, Speaker of the TRNC Assembly Zorlu Töre, Security Forces Commander Major General İlker Görgülü, Gazimağusa District Governor Özden Keser, Beyarmudu Mayor Bülent Bebek, Infantry Colonel Harun Aydoğdu on behalf of the Turkish Cypriot Peace Forces Command, and Burhan Cihangir, who was attacked together with Allahverdi Kılıç.
