19 June, 2017Prime Minister Hüseyin Özgürgün has stated that the Switzerland Conference should be the last stop in the Cyprus negotiations.
Evaluating the Cyprus issue, Prime Minister Hüseyin Özgürgün said that the outcome of the five-party conference should be a final decision. “Either an agreement or a separation”, said the Prime Minister.
Özgürgün said that if an agreement is not reached, a federal structure will not be established in Cyprus, and that, in that case, the UN should support the presence of the two states in Cyprus. He added that the issues regarding the withdrawal of troops and the concession of territory should not be discussed at the negotiating table. “The aim of the Greek Cypriot side is to remove Turkey’s guarantee and obtain territorial concessions” Özgürgün stressed.
