The Speaker of the TRNC Assembly, Ziya Öztürkler criticized Southern Cyprus for acquiring an air defense system from Israel.
In a written statement, Öztürkler reminded that peace and tranquility were secured on the island after 1974 Peace Operation, adding that if people today live in an environment of peace and tranquility rather than under the threat of weapons, it is thanks to the Peace Operation carried out in 1974.
Öztürkler underlined that while Southern Cyprus claims to be seeking a solution at the negotiating table with the international community, its acceleration of armament efforts proves its insincerity.
