President Erdoğan: “TRNC’s Legal Rights on the Agenda”
22 September, 2025President Ersin Tatar stated that both the recent developments in the region and the armament efforts in the Greek Cypriot side have reached a dangerous level.
According to a statement from the Presidency, President Tatar evaluated the latest developments in the country and the region.
“Greek Cypriot side has effectively surrendered. The British bases, the United States, France, and now Israel are present here with all kinds of military equipment,” Tatar said.
Referring also to the upcoming week’s meeting in New York, President Tatar emphasized that while he is working towards identifying a common ground, the Greek Cypriot side is not contributing to the improvement of relations.
Highlighting that they have introduced a new policy on the Cyprus issue, Tatar underlined that after the experiences of the Annan Plan and the Crans-Montana process, the federation issue should be closed.
President Tatar recalled that he will travel to New York next week to meet with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, and that a trilateral meeting will also be held with the participation of Greek Cypriot leader Nikos Christodoulides.
He further noted that he will raise issues such as mine clearance, wildfire response, and earthquake preparedness, while also pointing out that the Greek Cypriot side has refrained from cooperation on these matters.
