19 January, 2026The official statement issued by the Presidency regarding the diplomatic contacts of Presidential Undersecretary, Mehmet Dânâ in New York is as follows;
“Presidential Undersecretary, Mr. Mehmet Dânâ, held a series of diplomatic contacts in New York within the framework of the reports issued in early January of the UN Secretary-General on the Good Offices Mission and the United Nations Peacekeeping Force, as well as the forthcoming resolution on Cyprus of the UN Security Council expected to be adopted at the end of the month.
In this context, Mr. Dânâ held meetings with the representatives to the United Nations of the United States, the United Kingdom, France, the Russian Federation, Germany, Pakistan, Liberia, and Panama. During these meetings, the latest developments on the Cyprus issue were discussed, along with the assessments contained in the reports of the UN Secretary-General and matters related to the forthcoming Security Council resolution.
Mr. Dânâ also met with the UN Under-Secretary-General for Political and Peacebuilding Affairs, Ms. Rosemary DiCarlo, where the diplomatic process in Cyprus, the positions of the parties, and possible steps in the period ahead were evaluated.”
