11 December, 2017Prime Minister Hüseyin Özgürgün has stated that US President Donald Trump’s decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and move the US Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem would further increase problems in the region.
Noting that Cyprus is very close to the region and could therefore be affected by overspill from the ongoing conflicts, Özgürgün stated that those who want to prolong and enlarge the problem in Cyprus, rather than resolve the issue that has been going on for decades, now seek to do the same in the Middle East.
