6 October, 2016Cyprus Turkish Press Council President Şule Aker was elected as the President of the World Association of Press Councils with 70% of the votes.
Aker was elected at the 17th Ordinary Executive Council Meeting of the World Association of Press Councils (WAPC) which was held in Girne. Members from different countries participated in the meeting.
Haron Muwangi from Kenya and Kishor Shretta from Nepal were elected as vice-presidents.
