Ataoğlu and Arıklı meet with Uraloğlu in Ankara
29 June, 2026National Unity Party (UBP) MP Hasan Taçoy addressed a session titled ‘Access of Migrants and Refugees to Healthcare’ during the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) General Assembly in Strasbourg.
According to a statement issued by the TRNC Assembly, Taçoy said that access to healthcare is a fundamental human right and is essential for both public health and human dignity. He noted that migrants and refugees often face barriers to accessing adequate healthcare services, including language barriers and limited access to information.
Emphasising the need to pay particular attention to women, girls and unaccompanied children, Taçoy said that many individuals within these groups had been subjected to violence, exploitation, human trafficking or severe trauma. He stressed that ensuring their timely access to healthcare is both a legal and a moral responsibility.
Taçoy also described migration as a global reality that poses challenges for all societies and requires a shared sense of responsibility. He said that by ensuring effective access to healthcare for migrants and refugees, countries would not only fulfil their human rights obligations but also contribute to build healthier, more resilient and more inclusive societies.
