In his ceremonial message, Prime Minister Hüseyin Özgürgün stated that the Erenköy Resistance demonstrates that the Turkish Cypriot people will never give up and will always seek to protect their homeland, even in the face of extreme adversity. He further said that “We will exist on this land forever, with the strength and support from our Motherland, and will continue to move forward for the welfare and happiness of our people.”
The TRNC former President Eroğlu stated that “A legend was born in Erenköy. Turkish Cypriots resisted in dire circumstances in every way possible. We owe it to the martyrs to uphold their memories and strengthen the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.”
