Erhürman: “We will continue working in good faith for a settlement”

The TRNC Council of Ministers has declared three days of national mourning, from 31 August until sunset on 2 September 2026, following the loss of lives in a maritime disaster involving a passenger vessel operating on the Girne–Taşucu route.
According to the latest figures, 267 passengers were on board. While 241 people have been rescued, eight have lost their lives, and 18 remain missing. Search and rescue operations are continuing around the clock, with extensive support from Türkiye and the TRNC, including aircraft, helicopters, drones and Coast Guard vessels.
