Three-Day National Mourning Declared in the TRNC

Prime Minister Ünal Üstel stated that 239 of the people involved in the accident were found alive, 8 lost their lives and 20 remained missing after a passenger ship capsized while traveling between Girne-Taşucu route.
Prime Minister Üstel announced the names of the individuals that lost their lives and those who are still missing in the accident.
In his written statement, Üstel noted that the search and rescue operations launched after the maritime disaster happened off the coast of Girne were continuing uninterrupted around the clock with the strong support of the Republic of Türkiye and the intensive efforts of all related departments.
He also added that while search and rescue operations were being conducted at sea and in the air, a comprehensive and meticulous investigation was being carried out by the police department and relevant agencies to shed light on all aspects of the incident.
