Turkish and Greek Cypriot Chambers of Commerce participated in the event themed “the role of business world in the solution process” in Brussels

President of the Turkish Cypriot Chamber of Commerce Fikri Toros and President of the Greek Cypriot Chamber of Commerce and Industry Phidias Pilides participated in the event themed “the reunification process of Cyprus: the role of business world in the solution process” hosted by members of the European Parliament Knut Fleckenstein, Artis Pabriks and Takis Hadjigeorgiou.

President of the Turkish Cypriot Chamber of Commerce Fikri Toros expressed his opinions about the Green Line and the Direct Trade Regulations during his contacts and he pointed out the importance of preparing Turkish Cypriot economy for a solution.

In his speech during the panel, Toros stated that it is vital to reduce the economic differences between the sides and the EU has all the necessary sources in order to contribute.

Toros stated that the EU should take some steps such as boosting the efforts of preparing the Turkish Cypriot economy to the solution, to the EU integration and to enable direct trade.
