Prime Minister Ünal Üstel visited the General Secretariat of the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic States (TÜRKPA) in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, where he met with Secretary-General Ramil Hasan.
In his speech at the meeting, he pointed out that this was the first time the TRNC had been represented at Prime Minister level within the Organization of Turkic States, describing this development as a historic step.
Prime Minister Üstel stated that the time had come for the TRNC to move from observer status to full membership, emphasized the need to further advance relations with the Turkic world.
He highlighted the importance of enhancing cooperation within the cultural, social, sporting and youth sectors, fostering closer ties between peoples, and establishing air links to facilitate direct travel.
Referring also to previous contacts with Azerbaijan, Prime Minister Üstel emphasized the need to implement these collaborations swiftly and then initiate similar processes with other Turkic states.
