Ertuğruloğlu: “We are awaiting the end of the war and the reopening of the airspace to ensure the safe return of our citizens from Iran and Gulf countries.”

Minister of Foreign Affairs Tahsin Ertuğruloğlu stated that they are awaiting the end of the war and the reopening of the airspace to facilitate the safe return of the TRNC citizens currently in Iran and the Gulf countries.

In a statement to BRT, Ertuğruloğlu emphasized that the consular emergency hotline is operating around the clock and added:

“We know the locations of all our citizens and their hotel details. Therefore, there is nothing we can do at this stage other than wait. The airspace remains closed, and flights have been suspended. Evacuation is not possible under the present circumstances.”

In his evaluation regarding the impact of the ongoing war on the TRNC, Ertuğruloğlu noted that although the developments in the region are concerning, there is no cause for the Turkish Cypriot people to panic.
