“In the Shadow of Cedar” to be screened in Kolkata

The short film, In the Shadow of Cedar, is being showcased at international film festivals. The short film directed by Turkish Cypriot Müge Günay, about the story of the migration of the Turkish Cypriots due to the embargoes applied, will be screened at Asian Film Centre (AFC) Global Independence Film Festival in Kolkata city of India, on 10-12 November.

Director of the film Müge Günay in her statement to the TAK reporter stated that the scenario of the film was written by Turkish Cypriot author Şafak Yolcu and it was filmed in Cyprus last April. Günay stressed that the film was about desperate migrations caused by the embargoes imposed on the Turkish Cypriot people.

The film was recognized with an ‘Academy Special Award’ at the 10th Free Film Festival in Turkey. Moreover, it was recognized as a semi-finalist at the international film festival organized in the Republic of Cote d’ivoire and also took place as an official selection at the festivals held in the UK and India.
