Criticising the stance of the Greek Cypriot Energy and Tourism Ministry which conducted an investigation regarding Dr.Ahmet Savaşan’s appointment as Vice-President of the Global Healthcare Travel Council (GHTC) and for pressuring Greek members of the council into resigning, Minister of Tourism and Environment Fikri Ataoğlu said that the Greek Cypriots continue their uncompromising stance as usual.

Ataoğlu expressed that EDEK Member of Parliament Kostis Efstathiou asked in his speech at Greek Cypriot House of Representatives how a Turkish Cypriot being elected “illegally” as Vice President of the GHTC without objection of Greek representatives and said that the issue is being investigated by Greek Cypriot Energy and Tourism Ministry.

Stating that Dr. Ahmet Savaşan was unanimously chosen to this position and 57 countries accepted this, Minister Ataoğlu reminded that previously the Greek-Greek Cypriot duo had lobbied against North Cyprus and had prevented them from taking place on international platforms. Ataoğlu said, “Thanks to Turkey’s lobbying efforts the Greek–Greek Cypriot duo is thinking about leaving these platforms and this just shows us that we are on the right path.
