Leaders to meet today

President Mustafa Akıncı and the Greek Cypriot leader Nikos Anastasiades will hold a new meeting today within the framework of ongoing talks for a Cyprus settlement.

Following the leaders meeting on the 7^th of October President Akıncı stated that a referendum could be held in mid-2017 unless a “road accident” would occur.

Akıncı also stated that they aimed to complete the four chapters in October as much as possible and he added that they would reconsider the unresolved issues at a later stage.

President Akıncı also stated that if a consensus would be reached on territory, security and guarantee issues, the political framework of the settlement might emerge.
